Kurta and Mali are successful vampire slayers who come to exterminate a notorious and powerful vampire who is a terrifying scourge in the part of the world he lives in. However, the vampire slayers are the victims, they are the ones who end up exterminated in those vampire regions. The accursed regions. So that is the basic narrative of a bizarre action…
„I first came across vampires as a motif from these parts of the world back in late 1980s when, as a student of dramaturgy, I wrote a text titled “The Last Balkan Vampire”. The only things that remain from the original text are the motif and the title, and I ended up writing this piece which examines modern-day vampires from various angles… My intention was simple – to write a funny and amusing text based on the Balkan myths, traditions and superstitions, in the manner of a non-existent and somewhat absurd Turlitava dramaturgy – with singing and biting. In a certain way, it represents a humorous ritual procession of vampire exorcism. But it is probably just a wrong definition. I do not know which is the mirror of fears in which we fail to see ourselves as vampires. The play does not provide a diagnosis of being such a vampire or seek some parallel metaphors with present-day vampires, demons and evil spirits, but I hope it touches the nerve of our present-day subconscious pagan fears and basic instincts…“
